No Chores . . . Just Play

{Wednesday} March 30, 2011
Yesterday when I pulled into the Wallin's driveway I noticed a weird light on my dashboard and after some research I still couldn't figure out what it was for. Holly said that she thought it might be the tire pressure . . . turns out she was right. I took it into the dealership this morning and they found a huge screw in my back tire. Bummmer! We sat there for a couple of hours while they fixed it and washed the car. By the time we got back home there was only an hour or so until we had to pick up the girls from school, so I went through a drive thru for lunch. While I was waiting for our food I got a text from Holly saying that her car wouldn't start. Dang cars!! She said her husband was on his way to rescue her so I went home. I told Charly we would have a picnic for a little while before we had to leave again to get the girls but right when we got out of the car Holly called and said Kelly's car wouldn't jump her van, so we hopped back in the car to go help them out. After successfully jumping her van, we decided to just go straight to the school to pick them up, so I promised Charly we would play outside when we got home. It was a perfect day! I LOVE this kind of weather. While we were outside, and since the girls were having so much fun, I decided we would just play for the rest of the day. Who cares if the house is trashed some days, right?! We saw the Wallin's driving by so I told them to leave their girls with us so they could play too. Turned out to be a fun day!!
Hannah doing her homework in the driveway.

Charly, Brinna, & Reha playing with the sidewalk chalk.
Laci & Charly . . . cute girls!!
Porter hanging out with me. This picture looks like he's belly laughing but this boy WON'T let out a laugh! It's so funny . . . he'll just hold his breath. I can't wait to hear baby giggles!!

After Brinna & Laci went home we came inside and played a few games of marbles. It really was so much fun to not worry about cleaning up the house. I love spending time with these kids. What a lucky mom!!

Just being silly . . .
Thanks for a fun day girls!! I needed a break and you gave me the perfect one.

Charlise's First Haircut

{Friday} March 25, 2011
Charly has THE slowest growing hair! She just turned three and this is all it's grown. About a year ago Grandma Carey cut a little off the back to even things out, but she's never really had a real hair cut. At night time when I'm putting her in bed I'll usually tell her what we're going to do the next day . . . usually something she would think is fun like painting her nails, going to the park, etc. and I tell her that we'll do it IF she stays in bed like a good girl and goes to sleep. Last night I told her that I would cut her hair and make her pretty if she stayed in bed . . . she stayed in bed so today I cut it!
Before . . . watching some Strawberry Shortcake to keep her still . . .

. . . and after!
I think she looks SO cute with shorter hair . . . maybe because it's not so thin and scraggly looking. {This last picture makes it look crooked, but that's because she can't help but dance all day. It's almost impossible to keep her still. She stayed still when I was cutting it because I let her know the scissors were sharp and if she moved too much I could cut her. It worked.}

Artsy Girls!

My girls have always shown a great interest in art. They're all so talented . . . which makes me a proud mom since art is what I love to do. I love to create things . . . whether by drawing, sewing, whatever, so it's a lot of fun that my girls love to do that too. We have some fun times just sitting at the table drawing together.

{Wednesday} February 2, 2011
The girls sat down with some Zoo magazines and both picked out a picture to draw.
Reha chose this bird . . .
After she was all done.
. . . and Hannah chose this picture of giraffes. I'm so impressed that they can just look at a picture and make it look so similar. I somehow didn't get a picture of Hannah's after it was done . . . hmmm . . . sorry Hannah!! :(

{Saturday} February 26, 2011
Charlise asked me how to draw a little girl, so i sat down with her at the chalkboard and showed her how I draw one, and she followed right along. It was the first time she really drew something "real" beyond a circle, so she was really proud of herself and I was proud of her too!!

{Saturday} March 19, 2011
The girls were outside drawing with chalk and when I went outside to play with them I noticed Charly had drawn a "family of suns." I thought it was so cute!

Leprechaun Trap

{Thursday} March 17, 2011
Reha's class this year made leprechaun traps. She failed to mention that; first of all she had to do it, and second of all that it was due the day before St. Patricks Day. Unfortunately she told me the afternoon after it was due, but we decided to still make it since it was an assignment. Since she was pressed for time we sat down and she let me know her ideas and I helped her to build it. It turned out cute and she took it to school on St. Patricks Day . . . after the leprechauns had already come to the classroom. I guess it was a good lesson in remembering to do your assignments.

Hannah's Broken!

{Wednesday} February 9, 2011
My friend Holly & I help each other with taking the kids to and from school. Most days she takes, and most days I pick up. This day Holly picked them up from school and noticed that Hannah was limping, and when she asked her about it Hannah started to cry and couldn't stop. When they got home Holly brought in her back pack and let me know that she got hurt at lunch recess. I figured she would be okay since she cries easily when she gets hurt . . . I really didn't think much of it. I had her lay on the couch and elevate it and Holly & I chatted for a few minutes. When she left I went and sat by Hannah, and went to take off her shoe to look at her foot and saw this . . .
Now, my lifetime of gymnastics awarded me with more broken ankles than I can count. I really have no idea how many times I was in a cast, and almost always my broken ankles looked exactly like that. I was pretty sure she at least came close to breaking it so I asked Holly's husband, Kelly {our personal podiatrist . . . kiddddding, but it IS nice to have a dr. living just a few doors down} to come look at it. He said she should definitely get it x-rayed, so once Wade got home she & I {and our cute little nursing Porter} drove to San Marcos to get it checked out.

Sure enough . . . broken. Not horribly but near her growth plate so a cast was a must. Booo!

{Friday} February 11, 2011
After hobbling around school on crutches for a day {since she could bear ZERO weight on her splinted foot} I was able to get her in to get her cast put on. I was SO thankful that they could see her before the next week because she really struggled with the crutches. She quickly found out they are NOT as fun as they look! haha

All casted up and ready to WALK! We headed home, had lunch, painted her silly looking nails and took her to school just in time to decorate her Valentines mail box. Phew! It took her a few minutes to feel comfortable walking but by the time she got to school she was doing okay.

{Thursday} February 24, 2011
After about two weeks of having her cute little blue cast, it turned not so cute and rather stinky . . . not to mention the toe area was falling apart. So I took her back to the dr. where they took off the nasty cast . . .

. . . got washed up and got a brand new, pretty pink one. Hooray for clean casts!!

{Monday} March 14, 2011
FINALLY!! Four & 1/2 weeks later she was able to get it removed for good. We were SO happy to be done with the annoying thing. I'm so grateful that she didn't have to get another one and that she was able to get her foot back . . . not to mention that she'd be able to wear her regular pants again! Woo hoo!!

The guy who removed her cast asked her if she wanted to save it and she gave him this face and said, "Um, gross?"

Daddy Daughter Basketball

{Sunday} March 13, 2011
After church we decided to take a walk to the park to play together. I didn't get many pictures of the day but I thought Wade & Hannah's basketball game was cute so I snapped a few.

Charlise's 3rd Birthday!!

{Wednesday} March 9, 2010
Knowing that Charly's birthday was coming up I asked her what she wanted most. I figured she would say a shopping cart because she keeps asking for one like her cousin Clare's, but instead she sat there and thought for a minute, then said, "I don't want toys. I want fancy clothes!" Okaaay . . . this girl is hilarious. Our plan was for me to take her to Sea World on her birthday while the girls were in school, so the day before her birthday I took her to the mall to find her fancy clothes. When we walked past the shoes she quickly changed her mind to fancy SHOES instead! I'm in for it . . . or maybe I should say daddy's in for it!
Trying on all of the different fancy shoes in the store . . .
. . . and finally decided on some light up "fancy toes" shoes that she just HAD to have. What a girl!

All set with her shopping bad and purple balloon. One. happy. girl.

{Thursday} March 10, 2010
Woke up to the traditional 'birthday balloons all over the house' {blown up the night before when I had a girls night over at our house . . . went SO much faster with 4 of us getting lightheaded!}, sent the girls off to school . . . then went straight to Sea World. We spent all morning there watching shows and playing until we had to go get everyone from school.

THREE!!
Watching, what she calls, the "funny show" {Sea Lion & Otter show}.
And waiting for her favorite show, "the pretty show" {Blue Horizons . . . dolphins & pilot whales}.

When we got home from getting the girls there was a package at our door from Grandpa Ron & Grandma Linda. The girls always look forward to their packages from them!

"Reading" her card.

A cute little Webkinz dog.
A small doll and, of course, CLOTHES! This girly girl was SO excited to pull out a cute new outfit. She couldn't help but rip her clothes off and change into it.
Charly is such a funny little girl. She keeps us laughing with her silly songs and dances. She has turned into quite the girly girl! We love you Char-bar!
